Christmas release!
Ho ho ho. We thought we'd get a few more things out in the St Nick of time just before the holidays. We'll follow up later in the week with a summary of everything from 2011 and a hint at what's to come in 2012. But here's what's just been shipped.
Updates to the Shop Checkout page
Your customers can now set product quantities on the Checkout page when buying multiple items. And we've also made more clear the checkout options via PayPal, or paying by Card (not requiring a PayPal account). Plus there's a shipping drop down box.
NB. To get the Checkout page updates, you'll need to navigate to the 'Checkout page' (by using the shop drop down list in the Editor), and then on the Page Editor click 'Update template'.
Shipping updates
We've added the ability for you to set domestic and international shipping rates for your product purchases. This is part of a long line of shipping based features that we will continue with next year, but for now this is one additional variable you can change.
Category tweaks
You can now hide categories from the list so you can organise your products in secret ways, and then link to special hidden categories without them having to appear in the Category menu. You can also rename the 'All category'
Mobile render tweaks
We've updated the way we generate the mobile versions of your site to better organise the content we show. Items are grouped more logically and additional images will now show in the HTML version. Previously images covered by text would not be displayed, but provided at least 50% of the image is 'visible' we'll now show the image in the mobile version. We have another release slated for early 2012 which will further enhance the mobile version.
New Shop templates
We've updated all the shop templates to include the categories from the last release, and also the quantities, shipping and payment options from this release. We hope you'll agree there's some lovely stuff in there!
That's all for now. The team are already working on more goodies for early next year, but we'll soon be putting on our warmest socks and settling down for a good long sleep over the hols. We hope you have a wonderful time and a welcome break too.
As always, thoughts and feedback welcome.

Hi, these changes are fantastic..I really needed this for my website :)
I do have a quick question, many other design websites, use "image effects" in order to navigate from one product photo to the next. This obviously provides a more "clear" and "sleek" looking transition from one photo to the next for each item. With the additional ability to Zoom in on items too.
Is this something that Moonfruit will incorporate into their Shop design?
Kind regards,
Eva :)
these updates are wonderful....still sitting on the edge of my seat to be able to have different shipping costs for different items...a Must.
Hi,
eva: ShopBuilder does include a much-improved gallery on the product page, which allows visitors to navigate through items with a smooth transition. We plan to revisit existing widgets next year, and I suspect that the Gallery widgets will be on that plan.
flaxi: Glad to hear you're liking it! More improvements to shipping are on the way, so watch this space.

Gary
Hello, how can you hide all products showing on the main shop page. Are we able just to show the main catagories image for customers to click on so that takes them to the catagory and within their they can view products, when do you think the variables will be available ie sizes?
Hi,
I'm afraid it isn't yet possible to show a category-level view for the Shop page. However, it is possible to create a separate page for category links manually.
We're hoping to have product variables introduced next month, so watch this space.

Gary
Actually where can I get 'Update template' pls? It took me about 1 hour to get this option or button but I found nothing! Help!!
Hi M,
Can you let me know the address of your site, please? We can upgrade it for you.
HTH,
Gary
Hi MF Team,
Let me preface this first by saying how wonderful your product has been to my business. I really appreciate the work you do. Now to my questions...
What are the plans with the mobile versions of the website? My site looks terrible in iPhone / iPad circumstances and its frustrating that I can't do anything about it currently other than accept the automatic fix. Mobile and tablet usage is growing (23%+ of all traffic) and needs to be addressed.
1. Are you going to continue making an "automatic" mobile website for customers? If so, for how much longer?
2. Will there be a separate builder or application for your website's mobile version instead? (similar to http://mobile.wix.com/)
I really enjoy your product and would continue using it, but not if the mobile situation isn't addressed with a true solution in the near term future.
Thanks and Best Regards,
Derrick Coleman-Turner
I have categories, I dont know if my templates are new or not.
How do I get the quantities facility for my customers?
I cannot find any of the menu like descriptions you mention in your very very brief description..
Screen shots are a good idea here (like you use in the user guide).
Hi,
There are instructions on how to get the updated quantities just below the first image in the post, and you'll find a guide to setting up categories here:

We will be introducing some video guides later this week, on this very subject.

Gary
Hi, In facebook when you add a link to a page from your website in a message or post a thumbnail and description appears which looks great. The only issue is that even though your link maybe to your about us page or contact us page, it always links to the home page? Is there a way around this??
Look forward to hearing from you.
i cant get the checkout update because i dont seem to find the update template link please help !!!
Ive got product catalogue, product detail, shopping cart and sale confirmation. No check out option.
Any chance the videos discussed are done yet? i think im probably just missing something
Hi all,
Marie: This depends on exactly what you are entering as the page address - can you give us an example?
alexus8888: If you can let me know your site address, I'll update it for you.
arran: Shopping cart is the one you are looking for. The videos should be up by the end of this week.
HTH,
Gary
Good strong start to the beta shop but there are a few fixes to be done, hopefully you are already working on these ; At present
1. I can't change the text in each field in the shop for example ADD TO CART or FIND OUT MORE.
2. Can't delete the social networking buttons... why not ?
3. Can't provide different shipping rates for different products ?
Hi lescroix,
In answer to your questions:
1. I'm afraid these buttons cannot be edited at the moment, but this is on the list.
2. These buttons can't be removed, as the ability for you and your visitors to share your shop content is a fundamental aspect of ShopBuilder.
3. It is currently possible to set two shipping rates - international and domestic - which are applied at a flat rate to all products. We will be introducing a much more comprehensive shipping tool in a few months' time.
HTH,
Gary
Can you not rename shipping options, ie I want Collection, UK Standard and Uk Next Day, Thanks
