End of 2011, what a year it's been!
The final release of 2011 slipped out late last week, and we've now had a chance to sit back and reflect on what we've delivered over the year. What a year it's been! But every year brings new challenges, so we're also looking ahead to what we're going to be delivering in 2012…
As you know a big part of what we're striving for is to allow you to "publish once, be everywhere" all with "total design control", so that you only update your content in one place (your website) and we take care of publishing it appropriately to web, mobile, tablet and Facebook in a way that supports your brand identity.
2011 laid the foundations for this, and we think 2012 will blow you away ;-)
Here are the highlights of 2011:
- Mobile optimised sites (Feb 2011)
- New Moonfruit.com brand and website (Mar 2011)
- Updated design tools - shapes, backgrounds (Mar 2011)
- Improved customer support via Zendesk (Apr 2011)
- Hundreds of new site templates (Mar – Dec 2011)
- Image lightboxes (June 2011)
- The Blog (July 2011)
- 4,000,000 sites built with Moonfruit (Aug 2011)
- New File Manager (Aug 2011)
- Getty Images (Aug 2011)
- WebUser Gold Award - best website builder (Aug 2011)
- The Shop - Web, Mobile, Facebook (Oct 2011)
- Launch event with PayPal (Oct 2011)
- Moonfruit office expansion (Nov 2011)
- Shop improvements - categories, quantities, shipping (Nov/Dec 2011)
It's no surprise that the team look a little bit tired! But never fear we'll leap back into action early next year with even more goodies.
What's to come in 2012
- Mobile version styling (colours) and include/exclude content from mobile version (probably Feb)
- More shop improvements – product variants, stock control, etc. (Regular releases throughout the year)
- And maybe, just maybe a little HTML5 website magic…watch this space ;-)
So that's that. We hope you've enjoyed 2011 as much as we have and you are looking forward to bigger, better 2012, as much as we are.
Until we meet again early next year, have a wonderful Holiday Season (or Xmas!), and a Happy New Year from all the Moonfruit team!

What a year its been for us as well, over 15100 visitors since we started this site with you a year age! Its a lot for us but maybe not on the web, Susan Boyle got 3,000,000!!!!!!!!
Our site is getting well known here in Swansea and paying advertisers are making enquires now, so cant wait for the new year.
A big Merry Christmas and a fantastic New Year from the team at THIS IS SWANSEA WALES.
html5 comes out for moonfruit and i would be more than thankful and so happpyyyyyyy
It's clearly been a big year for moonfruit.. but to be honest I will probably move away from moonfruit over the next few months. The flash problems with Apple devices is a major issue, and the html and phone version that moonfruit generates for my site is extremely poor.
It's a shame as I have enjoyed using moonfruit over the years, but technology is changing fast, and html5 will end up killing all the flash sitebuilders off pretty soon :(
Thanks for all this guys! I Hope you didnt waste to much time on your blogs last year, although blog's are working very good right now!
I would like to recommend a "Muti language log-in widget" for 2012.. well, at least for lite packages and plus, should have a multi language login/signup widget..
Also, looking forward to More shop improvements, and much more,.. the mobile site. Wich content could we post on our mobile site and, will there be "Mobile template's" ?
Have a great 2012!
Sonny
Hi all,
Ian: It is obviously your choice, but we do have a raft of mobile HTML improvements planned for February. HTML 5 is very unlikely to kill off Flash, as it isn't designed to do everything that Flash can, but we do also have plans in that area.

Hey guys great to hear your still working on improvements. Do you have any plans to sort out the functionality of the blog feature?
I find it next to impossible to place links into the text and it appear a different colour. In fact this simple and important action is currently impossible whether i try to edit within the blog window or from the page. It carries out the edits such as a change of font colour or embedding of a link, i save and then view the page and it reverts to the original. this is 1 of many annoying faults of the blog feature. Hope you guys can spend some time sorting it!
